OBI provides concessions to outplacement agencies

OBI announced today that it is to offer concessions for outplacement agencies to assist with the swelling numbers on their books.
Outplacement agencies are the firms which help laid-off employees to find a new job. Traditionally, they assist with CV creation and careers advice. Some also offer management workshops and development training.
The difference this time round is that the Internet provides a real alternative for people with no job to go to. While headlines have been all about recession for offline companies, online sales and recruitment are on the rise.
OBI is like an extra limb for the traditional outplacement agency. “Anyone with computer ability can establish a business online these days.” , says Brown. “Once we teach them how to create a product and market it on the Internet, they can make a living at home.”
Recent estimates suggested for every fifty people laid-off there are only ten jobs available. Its a great time to make the break on the Internet.
OBI provides the training, the mentorship, the step-by-step guidance and, in some cases, the investment, for people to create businesses online. OBI is now in discussion with several outplacement agents to provide its training and guidance service at a concessionary rate.
